Liesa Collins - Elke Vogelsang

This is the dog photographer I mentioned in class! Elke Vogelsang is a photographer based in Hildesheim, Germany that focuses on pet photography, portraits, and still life. Even though Vogelsang's portraits are funny to look at because her subjects are mainly dogs, she is still a highly respected photographer. Buzzing on Pinterest and Etsy, Elke talks about how she photographs unruly subjects. There are a lot of studio shots because it is the easiest way for a dog not to get distracted. She also mentioned that sometimes she captures the money shot on the in betweens of trying to control an animal. Some of her best shots are unplanned.
Elke Vogelsang has a lot of reasons for shooting the subjects she shoots. One reason being because they are an attainable subject that lives in her own home. She might find a special satisfaction for going through the struggles for controlling an animal in such a way. The pictures are so warm hearted and make the viewer gain a sense of happiness because who doesn't love dogs? I think Elke Vogelsang might not have a conceptual and deep meaning behind the animals she shoots besides the fact that she loves them and wants to show that love and respect to others.
