Aaron Huey: Jessica Aicholtz

In listening to Aaron Huey's Ted Talk about saving the Black Hills of the Lakota Indians, you could really see how connected he was with each photograph he captured. You could feel the deeper story behind each photograph. The Sioux people only wanted their land and to keep the traditions of their people that have been around long before the white man came to America. Huey didn't just wake up one morning and feel like he wanted to do something good. This is his life's passion to try and fix the wrongdoings of the Wachichu--the greedy man. I really feel connected about how he wanted to bring the poverty ridden society of the Lakotas into the light, so that people realize what wrong we have been doing for so long. It's how I want my photographs to be portrayed, to be able to tell the deeper story that the lens can not capture.
