Then he photographed the night sky all night and then before the sun rose, would close the shutter to his camera to not ruin the photograph. When one morning he didn't get to close it in time, he saw that the intensity of the sun's rays burned the negative.
Ever since then, he's been doing this technique for almost 10 years now, building his own cameras and traveling to locations like the Equator and the North Pole to capture the extreme sun patterns of those places.
I went to his show down on Broad St. on First Friday and it's a completely different experience seeing them in a PowerPoint and in real person. Looking through the burn hole and see the wall behind the framed photograph was amazing.
