Andrew Wyeth

A painter from the mid 20th century (well, 1970s). He uses a lot of grey tones in his work, there's a general feeling of solidarity and quiet throughout. Maybe even some symbolism--the placement of seemingly ordinary things becomes extraordinary in his dedication to expressing their image. I especially love his attention to lighting, I feel it's relevant to this class as well. Our Filmmaker's Handbook actually mentioned him in the chapter on lighting specifically for his attention to it in painting (also probably because he's a more contemporary artist). Here's his site, where you can check out all his amazing work: http://www.andrewwyeth.com/
