Robert Capa
Robert Capa was a famous Hungarian combat photographer. He was born October 22, 1913. He is known for covering many wars from the 30’s to the 50’s. Capa died by stepping on a landmine while in Japan while covering the Indochina war.
“If your pictures aren't good enough, you aren't close enough.” -Robert Capa.
His work reaches out to me and I like that quote explains why I feel this way. I get the most satisfaction from my work when it’s physically demanding. I feel in that way I become better connected to my own photographs. Capa’s methods involved putting himself right in the middle of the action--putting his work over personal safety--and there’s something really special to admire about that. Not only does his work have important historical value, but it also explains the power of becoming part of the experience of whatever it is you’re photographing.

I love these photos. Capa was the epitome of a combat photographer. His photos feel so visceral and gritty because he was literally dodging bullets at the time. I love it!
