Ashley Kronsberg - Weekly Artist Post

Caspar Claasen

Caspar Claasen is a photographer based out of the Netherlands. His main focus with his photography is to capture ordinary moments in life to emphasis how extraordinary these passing moments really can be. I found this take on everyday life to be very intriguing, and the photos I came across did not disappoint. It seems Claasen uses a deep depth of field due to the amount of detail seen in photos such as the first two. It is also very clear that Claasen is very aware of the lines, color, and light when he is taking his photos. My favorite of the three is the second photos. During a foggy day in which some people may see nothing grand about their experience, the way the fog blankets the world in a blue light and the pink in the little girl's jacket is breathtaking.

  1. It's interesting that the first two photos have this very central focus of subject while the last photo is in more of thirds. Yet all three seem to hold more weight towards the bottom of the photo in the top- the first has the beach and people in the lower half, the second has the biker in the street with other objects, and even the last photo while seemingly almost the same in both halves, even has a balloon in a window on the bottom. Curious as to what the reasoning is, but regardless, they are wonderful.
