Adam Amengual is a Brooklyn based photographer that works with Men's Health, New York Magazine, Juxtapoz Magazine, and many more. His photo series "Homies" depicts portraits of former LA gang members taken at Homeboy Industries, which is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles, Ca that helps men and women redirect their lives away from gang life. Everyone in these photos were either once incarcerated or in a gang. I chose to post this artist because "Homies" really speaks to me as an interesting narrative that deals with these real life former gang members that are trying to change their lives for the better. Throughout viewing the photos on Adam Amengual's website , you will run across quotes spoken by the former gang members photographed.
