Alex Kreher: Alex Prager

A friend of mine, who also is a filmmaker suggested me to look at Alex Prager's work. 20 minutes later I found my self still looking at her work. I immediately got sucked into Prager's world of real life scenes that yet feel so unreal. Her use of vivid colors and intentional light and shadow relations help to draw the viewer into this world where something just feels a bit off, or perhaps she was just fortunate enough to capture a lot of strange moments. It is fascinating how every photo of hers tells such a broad story by showing many different objects and how they are juxtaposed without feeling overwhelming or cluttered (unless intended, like "the face in the crowd").
Another part that I really enjoy in her work is that each photo seems like a snapshot of a motion, as if the viewer can see the movement before and after the photo was taken - each shot looks very cinematic which explains why she also directed several short films.
For me as a Photographer and Filmmaker this is a great inspiration how you can still keep both passions alive without having to choose for one.
