Jack Wolfe - Artist Post

Ebru Yildiz is a New York based, music photographer, and is incredibly active in the scene. She most recently published her own book "We've Come So Far: The Last Days of Death by Audio" featuring photographs from the last 100 shows that were hosted at the iconic underground music venue.

All three images look like they were taken using a single light source to create a dramatic shadow on the person's face. The first photo is an incredibly simple black and white image, but the contrast between the background and Carrie, while the shadow blends into her hair on the left side as she looks into the distance. The second image Ebru uses a rainbow across the face to frame their eye, and light the face for contrast against the background.

These photos stood out to me because they are all portraits, but they're done in landscape, and they all have very unique lighting used on the subjects of the photographs. I've always been a huge fan of portraits of some of my favorite band members. These photos also do an interesting job at capturing my attention while being incredibly simple when it comes to backgrounds
