Kahlil Joseph

I'm a sucker for well-made music videos, and the promotional video for Flying Lotus' new album sparked something in me. The director, Kahlil Joseph, is based in L.A. and does a lot of short films similar to "Until the Quiet Comes," (the Flying Lotus video). What I really enjoy about his work is how there's this clever, beautiful interplay between the music and his imagery. He makes the video seem relevant and alive, as part of the song instead of just background footage, which evokes a really strong emotional response from me.The first video is the Flying Lotus one. The next is called "Black Up," and is supposed to portray a sort of fever dream induced by Shabazz Palaces' music.
