Cindy Sherman

Going on a self-portrait photographers theme this week, Cindy Sherman is an American photographer who takes self-portraits of her but transforms herself into someone completely different. She has been created these "characters" since her college days, once going to an opening with a pillow under her dress to look pregnant.

Cindy Sherman was featured on Art 21 in 2009 and in her interview, she talked about her process and from taking photos of herself in clown makeup to going all out and creating strangers out of herself.

She doesn't have a website, but someone created a tribute site about her.

  1. woah, I find this really interesting. It wouldn't be as captivating if she didn't have such a collection showing the passage of time. I'm fascinated with the idea of masks, and the masks we wear in life every day for different people. The act of estranging yourself in a self-portrait really plays on that for me.
