Elliot Erwitt was born in Russia but grew up in France. He moved to New York later in his life. He is a advertising and documentary photographer. Most of his works consist of candid shots portraying ironic and absurd everyday situations. He started out as a photographer's assistant in the U.S. Army. Erwitt was influenced by meeting famous photographers, Edward Steichen, Robert Capa, Roy Stryker. One of his main subjects for his projects are dogs.
