Juan Madrid – Under
the Shadows of Clouds
Juan Madrid was born in Catskill, New York and received his
BFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He mainly does work in upstate
New York and is apart of the Free Lunch Cartel.
I enjoy Madrid’s work because of how unique his pictures
are. It makes you question how he finds his material creating the sense of
quality and uncommonness that is hard to capture in photography.
The top left picture I enjoy because of how unique it is.
Whether or not Madrid made this picture or found the shoe print on the box
creates the illusion and mystery that seems to dominate this collection. The
top right picture I enjoy because of the color contrast between the dark brown
rings and the bright pink flowers. The bottom picture is my favorite because of
the contrast between the harsh flames on the cars and the almost soft texture
of the plants.
