Tom Jacobi
Tom Jacobi is a photographer who, at first, had no interest what so ever when he had gotten his first camera. He used to just take pictures around the house and of his family such as his sister on the swing set. For three years, he had left the photography world because he wanted to try something new, but he ended up leaving and retiring to the world of images.
These three pictures are from his project Grey Matter(s). They are each from a different area of the world that seemed somewhat lonely and dark. The first picture is of a body a water with a waterfall that seems to be going down into the earth. The second picture is of a few almost perfectly circular rocks that border a shore. The third picture is of what seems to be a mountain that looks like it is trying to reach into the sky with its pointy tops.
What first drew me to these pictures is the color. There were no bright colors used for these pictures and even though that would normally be found strange, it actually really works for what Jacobi was trying to show. Each of these beautiful landscapes have there own story to tell and just by looking at them you are immediately drawn in by how gloomy they feel.
