The first image in an incredibly simple portrait but the way the window on the right, and the beams of light projected on the wall on the left frame the subject, in addition, adds detail to her face. The second portrait is a less traditional portrait, with the flag covering most of the subjects body, only showing the eyes and knees of the person holding the flag. The third image is a portrait but it looks like the artist spent a bit of time posing the subject, and maybe even placed the brown bag there specifically to draw your eye back to the subject
Pascal does an excellent job at creating incredibly simple portraits, and adding small details that you wouldn't notice generally, but make the image that much better.
