Ashley Kronsberg Weekly Artist Post

Alain Delorme

Alain Delorme is a French photographer. The above photos are part of a series called Murmurations: Ephemeral Plastic Sculptures. Upon first inspection, the above photos appear to be a flock of bird migrating; however, the subjects that make up this bird-like migration system are actual plastic bags. Delorme constructs these photographs to represent that damage and consequences that are bound to happen due to human neglect of waste. In each of these photos, Delorme makes sure to add some element of human construct (the statue, windmills, etc} to show that as bizarre as the migrating plastic bags may seem, their existence is due wholly to our neglect in proper disposal of waste. Although much of this photo is accomplished through editing, I believe to create the setting for the bags Delorme uses a deep depth of field and a high ISO in order to accurately represent the bright colors of the sunset in each of his photos.
