Thomas Mednikov - Artist Post 1
Michael M. Koehler was raised on photography in the city of Philadelphia from a young age. His photography is vast in depth of field as well as locations which vary widely from picture to picture. Michael's work has been shown in galleries in
Rome, New York City, as well as his hometown.
I chose these three images due to their display of isolation and loneliness in a wide variety of layouts in the world. They capture the feeling of being alone on a road in the middle of nowhere while also displaying melancholy in large urban grids. The use of black and white adds to the dreariness of the photos as well as providing anonymity to the subjects allowing them to be represented by anyone.
Michael M Koehler's photography provides excellent display to his large array of travels as well as his interaction in location. They also can provide insight into his possible emotion at the time as well as showing how you do not have to be alone to feel lonely. The large depth of field on all of them also displays the vastness of earth of which he has traveled, it's no wonder the portfolio is titled "Time and Space".
