1) Ren Hang is a Chinese photographer that is constantly pushing the boundaries of his countries censored culture. He is a freelance photographer notorious for the nudity of his models. Part of his decision to photograph nude subjects is shock value and rebellion but he also uses this medium as an attempt to understand the human condition.
2) I was drawn to his work by my own desire to explore our existence. I have grown increasingly curious about the world around me and my place within it all. The three images that I chose point to an answer that suggests they are one in the same. All of the images are a representation of the interdependence between nature and man as they blur the line where one begins and the other ends.
3) Hang choses to photograph nude subject because he believes that nudity is our most authentic look and he explores this idea as an attempt to understanding our true existence. The three images above are from his project entitled "Human/Nature" and his goal what to explore "the uncanny connection of human bodies and questionable distinction of humanity from nature". He attempts to expose the grandiose image we have of the human manifestation and show that this form is only a temporary portion of a much larger process.
