Tony Cox




Tony Cox's portraits are interesting to me. None of them are typical portraits (not a single subject is looking at the camera), but rather much more real looks at the subject being photographed. All of his work is black and white, and they each draw upon a certain ethereal quality. They are each strung together, not only by technical similarities, but by their unconventional approach to portraiture.

  1. It's interesting that the subjects don't look at the camera, since that's a main component of portraiture.
    They look more natural, especially the one on the couch. Kind of like a stolen moment or something.
