I know you're thinking that this dumb blog thing is utterly superfluous. It's not. It has nearly a decade of student research and work. Look through it; there's inspiration here. But it's also not superfluous for other important reasons:
Each of our thoughts and emotions has been, at least partly, fashioned by someone before us, be it into a photograph or sculpture, painting or film. As artists, like scientists, it is our duty to contribute to the dialogue begun at humanity’s inception and grown vigorously since. No one of us creates alone. Even the proudest most obdurate and seemingly original artist pulls her language from this historical backwater.
If you don't look at and think deeply about the work of others, then you're doing less than half of the necessary work. So please understand this blog as an invitation to begin contributing to yourself as an artist and to those in your community.
