Annie Leibovitz

The technical choices that go into Annie Leibovitz's photo shoots are one of the most important parts of her photography. The debt she has racked up has been caused by her technical choices. The amount of money she puts into all of the equipment/technology is what really creates her images. Even with this weight over her head, she continues to put in money she does not necessarily have to create the image she has in mind. She uses studio lighting indoors and outdoors to cast the mood for her shoots. Leibovitz also does a great job at capturing the moments she has in mind with her use of time.

I think that when Leibovitz shoots, she has every single element of the shot she has in mind down to a point. In a documentary I watched, she showed her process of planning out a new photo shoot. Her process has everything and everyone in mind, meaning that she keeps not only herself as a photographer in mind- but the client, model, audience, etc. Leibovitz is a great example of embodying the theme given to her when shooting. For one of her more popular shoots, she shot a "real life Disney princess" set. One part of the set was a 'Little Mermaid' based shoot, where she clearly went very far to get the real looks of mermaids, as well as an underwater kingdom environment.
